Caritas Nepal assisting government in reconstruction drive

The beneficiaries are 1,110 families of Orang and Bulung VDCs. They received 50,000 each in the first installation of the assistance. The monetary aid was distributed in collaboration with the National Reconstruction Authority and the District Development Committee, Dolakha, according to Caritas Nepal district programme coordinator Dal Bahadur Shahi.

The organisation is providing the quake survivors here with more financial assistance under an installation scheme, to construct shelter, he added. Besides, the organisation is all set to provide technical and engineering assistance to the beneficiaries to construct shelter. It has mobilised one engineer and nine technicians to render necessary guidance and assistance to the people while constructing shelter.

More, the organization has decided to allocate additional Rs 50,000 to each to the beneficiaries as construction materials’ transport cost.  Besides, the organisaiton is investing in livelihood improvement programme, construction of drinking water projects, promotion of local sanitation programme and psychosocial counseling services in the quake-affected villages. The monetary assistance was distributed to the beneficiaries though Laxmi Micro Finance, Singati.

The organisation will be working for the welfare of the disaster survivors here for the next three years. In the aftermath of the quake, it had distributed two bundles of iron roof sheets each to 2,500 families of Orang, Bulung and Laduk VDCs to build temporary shelter, it is learnt. RSS
