United States President Barack Obama has extended wishes and congratulations to Nepal and the Nepali people on the occasion of the Constitution Day.

In a congratulatory message to President Bidya Devi Bhandari, President Obama expressed his pleasure in feeling ‘honoured to convey the best wishes of the people of the United States’.

He has assured of the US commitment to advancing mutual relationship and helping Nepal achieve a brighter future, including the growth of Nepal’s hydropower potential, the development of its infrastructure and the pursuit of justice for all affected by last year’s tragic earthquake.

The US President stated that the ‘American people continue to feel the grief of the families who lost loved ones’ during the devastating earthquake which struck Nepal more than a year ago.

“We stand with you and all Nepalese who refuse to let tragedy overcome the desire for a better future,” President Obama said, adding “The United States will always admire the strength of Nepalese who have rebuilt their homes and their lives, and we will continue to do everything we can to support you in this effort.”

“Democracies form natural bonds and we look forward to strengthening that bond in the years ahead,” President Obama added.
