Human encroachment in Sano Chautari Woman Community Forest located at Arthunge of Beni Municipality – 8 has been cleared.

Some members of the local community had encroached upon the forest area. The Community Consumer Group took the initiative and with the help of Mangalghat Area Forest Office cleared the encroachment on 2.3 hectares of forest area.

The community forest area has now grown to 4.3 hectares after it was cleared of encroachment, Mangalghat Area Forest Office Assistant Forest Official, Raj Kumar Thakur said.

The government officials planted grass saplings and fenced off the area cleared of human settlement, he added.

Around 400 hectares of encroached forest areas have been returned without the use of force under the campaign launched in Myagdi to clear forest areas of encroachment.
