New chapter will be added in Nepal-India relations

Minister Mahat said so while talking to media persons upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport from India after a three-day India visit. He had left here for India on Sunday, September 11.

Minister Mahat said that he held friendly meetings with Indian leaders including External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, Energy Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti regarding bilateral relations and cooperation.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Mahat had embarked on India visit to prepare ground for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal upcoming India visit. PM Dahal is schedule leave here on Thursday, September 15, on a four-day state visit to India.

He said that he informed that India should show its activeness in construction of Pancheshwor Hydropower Project during his India visit.

Discussion was held regarding construction of the project, halted for the past two decades, during official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Nepal on August 3, 2014. Discussion was held on various issues including postal roads, Kamal diversion, import of agro products, ring road linking Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Daechula and opening new border check points during his stay in India, added Minister Mahat.
